About This Project
- Postcards to Campus is an ongoing project centered around the OSU community. This project is open for submissions of mailed, dropped off, or uploaded postcards.
- Open call-for-postcards until June 2021.
- Inspiration for this project is drawn from Post Secret. However, OSU community members are encouraged to share art, writings, and sentiments on their postcards that range from personal to OSU-specific. Submitted postcards must feature content that is appropriate for viewers of all ages.
- Postcards submitted to Postcards to Campus will be on display in the Valley Library rotunda, on this site, and will be archived through OSU's Special Collections and Archives Research Center (SCARC) to be featured in their COVID Collecting Project.
This image showcases the proposed window display that would accompany postcards submitted to Postcards to Campus. Postcards would adorn the sidewalk level and lower windows of the Valley Library rotunda with overflow permeating the main lobby. These postcards would be accented by various silhouettes of birds, nests, letters, and other imagery to remind students, faculty, and staff that though we're distant, OSU is still home.
Submission box locations: In the entry lobby of the Valley Library, the basement of the Valley Library outside of Java, and in the front lobby of the Memorial Union. Other submission sites that are not pictured here: the Corvallis Book Bin, the Corvallis-Benton Public Library, and the book drop at the Valley Library
Sample postcard: return addresses are not required, but stamps are necessary for mailed-in postcards. Postcards to Campus, Valley Library, 201 SW Waldo Pl, Corvallis, OR 97331 is the mailing address.
Goals
- Create a sense of community despite distanced learning and engagement
- Create an inclusive, intersectional space for student work and voices
- Beautify the windows of the Valley Library
- Inspire interest in current Valley Library virtual and physical resources
